Singapore Sign Language Week 2014

The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) will be organising the Singapore Sign Language Week 2014 from 22nd to 28th September 2014 at the East Court, Level 1, VivoCity in conjunction with the International Week of the Deaf. This year’s theme for International Week of the Deaf is “Strengthening Human Diversity”.

DATES: MONDAY 22 September to FRIDAY 26 September 2014
TIME: 2pm to 9pm

DATES: SATURDAY 27 September to SUNDAY 28 September 2014
TIME: 10am to 9pm

VENUE: East Court, Level 1, VivoCity

The Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) Week is a platform for the Deaf community to stand proud as Deaf and promote their culture and language, Singapore Sign Language. SgSL Week also gives Deaf Singaporean an opportunity to reaffirm the rights of Deaf people as defined by UN’s Convention on the Rights of Person with Disabilities (UNCRPD). 

The objectives of the SgSL Week are:
  • To promote and raise awareness of SgSL and Deaf culture;
  • To provide information and resource about the Deaf community, the way of life, language and culture;
  • To educate public on the SgSL and Deaf awareness;
  • To create opportunity for public to learn SgSL and Deaf culture; and
  • To celebrate the International Week of the Deaf.
SgSL Week is organised by Singapore Association for the Deaf, which will work with government and other organisations to provide information and resources on life for Deaf people, Deaf culture and Singapore Sign Language.

ExtraOrdinary Horizons (Deaf Singapore) is invited to be one of the Exhibitors for this above-mentioned event. Our performances will be slotted at 7:30pm on Saturday 27 September 2014 and Sunday 28 September 2014.
