SgSL 102 Course

Synopsis

The SINGAPORE SIGN LANGUAGE SgSL 102 COURSE builds upon the foundations laid in SgSL 101, introducing more comprehensive vocabulary and simple conversational phrases. This course aims to develop basic communicative competence in SgSL for everyday interactions, such as greetings, asking simple questions, and discussing hobbies. Students will engage interactive activities to practice their signing skills in a supportive environment, enhancing their confidence in using SgSL for basic communication.
 

Learning Outcome

Upon successful completion of the SgSL 102 course, students will be able to:

1. Enhanced Vocabulary: Demonstrate an expanded vocabulary in Singapore Sign Language, enabling them to cover a wider range of topics in daily conversations.

2. Conversational Skills: Utilize simple conversational phrases effectively, facilitating basic interactions such as making introductions, asking and answering simple questions, and discussing personal interests like hobbies.

3. Communicative Competence: Show basic communicative competence in SgSL, with the ability to engage in straightforward dialogues and exchange information clearly and accurately.

4. Confidence in Signing: Display increased confidence in using SgSL, supported by practice in a variety of interactive activities to bolster signing fluency and comprehension.

5. Cultural Understanding: Gain further insights into the Deaf community and Deaf culture in Singapore, fostering an environment of respect and effective communication.

Upon successful completion of the course assessments, including graded quizzes and a final examination, students will receive certificates of completion. These certificates will be issued in two formats: an electronic copy, sent via email to each student's registered email address, and a physical copy, distributed in person during the last session of the course.
