SgSL 302 Course

Synopsis

Completing the intermediate series, this SINGAPORE SIGN LANGUAGE SgSL 203 COURSE focuses on advanced applications of visual-spatial rules, semantics, and classifiers in complex communicative scenarios. Students will engage in exercises that challenge them to use SgSL in abstract contexts, including personal and social communications. This course aims to enhance students' precision and flexibility in using sign language, preparing them for advanced studies and interactions within the Deaf community.

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of the SgSL 302 course, students will be able to:

  1. Mastery in Sign Linguistics: Attain mastery over sign linguistics concepts, including visual-spatial rules, classifiers, directionality, inflection and semantics, applicable in academic, arts and professional contexts.

  2. Specialized Application: Apply advanced SgSL concepts in specialized areas, such as Deaf studies, sign linguistics, and professional advocacy, demonstrating the ability to contribute meaningfully to these fields.

  3. Critical Analysis Skills: Develop critical analysis skills for sign language texts, enabling the evaluation and interpretation of complex sign language materials for academic and professional purposes.

  4. Allyship in Deaf Community: Embrace roles that support allyship within the Deaf community, understanding the importance of advocacy and education in promoting Deaf rights and accessibility.

Upon successful completion of the course assessments, including a final examination, students will receive certificates of completion. These certificates will be issued in two formats: an electronic copy, sent via email to each student's registered email address, and a physical copy, distributed in person during the last session of the course.
