SgSL 104 Course

Synopsis

The SINGAPORE SIGN LANGUAGE SgSL 104 COURSE is designed to consolidate and expand upon the skills acquired in earlier courses. It introduces learners to the nuances of non-manual markers and their role in expressing questions, negations, and emotions in SgSL. This course aims to refine the students' ability to participate in more complex conversations, enhancing their understanding of Deaf culture and community norms. Students will also begin to narrative signing, preparing them for more advanced levels of SgSL proficiency.

 

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of the SgSL 104 course, students will be able to:

1. Mastery of Non-Manual Markers: Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of non-manual markers in Singapore Sign Language, and their critical role in conveying grammatical features, such as questions, negations, enriching the expressiveness and clarity of communication.

2. Complex Conversational Participation: Engage confidently in complex conversations, applying advanced grammatical structures and vocabulary to discuss a variety of topics with greater depth and precision.

3. Narrative Sign Language Skills: Begin to employ narrative signing techniques, effectively telling stories in SgSl, which prepares them for advanced storytelling and presentation skills in future courses.

4. Increased Linguistic Fluency: Show increased fluency and comprehension in SgSL, moving beyond intermediate communication skills to more sophisticated language use that incorporates a broader range of linguistic features.

Upon successful completion of the course assessments, including graded quizzes and a final examination, students will receive certificates of completion. These certificates will be issued in two formats: an electronic copy, sent via email to each student's registered email address, and a physical copy, distributed in person during the last session of the course.
